SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System) is a U.S. government database that tracks international students and exchange visitors. Your SEVIS record must be validated after you arrive in the U.S. to officially activate your J-1 status. Without validation, you cannot begin your program or apply for a Social Security Number.
You must contact your J-1 Visa sponsor and Bridge Aspire within 72 hours of your arrival in the U.S. to confirm that you’ve arrived safely. This step allows us to update your SEVIS record and activate your J-1 visa status.
Please provide your full U.S. address (including apartment or room number, even if temporary) and a local phone number if available. This ensures that your SEVIS record and contact details are accurate.
No. You must wait until Bridge Aspire has validated your SEVIS record and your status is marked as “Active.” Applying for your SSN too early can cause processing delays.
Once Bridge Aspire validates your SEVIS record, you will receive an official confirmation email from [email protected]. Keep this email for your records.
You must update your J-1 Visa Sponsor & Bridge Aspire within 5 days of any change to your U.S. address or contact information. This is a U.S. Department of State requirement to maintain your valid J-1 status.
If you have trouble contacting your Host Organization, contact your J-1 visa sponsor and Bridge Aspire immediately. We’ll assist in coordinating your start and resolving any communication delays.
No. SEVIS validation can only occur on or after your official program start date, not before. This is a federal regulation.
Failure to confirm your arrival may delay your SEVIS validation, your SSN application, and your ability to start training. In some cases, it could lead to SEVIS termination if not addressed promptly. Contact your J-1 Visa Sponsor and Bridge Aspire as soon as possible if you miss the 72-hour window.
Some Host Organizations require a drug test or background check before your first day of training. This process may take a few days, so it’s best to ask your Host in advance.
